Welcome to the Gwinn High School elective page. If you want to know all about the electives offered at GHS, you've come to the right place! Each area includes descriptions, photos, and quotes from real students of these classes.

It is recommended that you take classes that will help you in your future career. For example, if you plan on going into the medical field, you should plan on taking biology, chemistry, college biology, and anatomy.

English--4 years:

Math--4 years:

World Language--2 years of the same World Language*

  • Fine Arts: 1 year** (Art Foundations, Advanced Art, Band, Chorus, DDA, ADDA)


*1 year of World Language can be substituted for a visual performing arts class such as: Industrial Tech, Creative Writing, Building Trades, DDA, ADDA, CADD, Advanced Art, Art Foundations, Digital Photography, Band, or Chorus.

COLLEGE RECOMMENDATIONS

High school students entering 4-year universities in Michigan are required to have completed the following units:

English: 4 years

Mathematics: 4 years strongly recommended

Social Studies: 3 years

Natural Science: 3 years (including 1 year of biological science and 1 year of physical science); 3 years recommended. At least 2 years of lab science are strongly recommended.

World Language: Some universities/colleges require 2 years of the same foreign language.


Other recommended units:

World Language: 3 years

Computer Literacy: 1 year hands-on experience

Fine/Performing Arts: 2 years
