Français 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
French 1 An introductory course emphasizing pronunciation, fundamentals of grammar, vocabulary building, and basic communication in the French language. This course is structured with a game model so that students can master skills at a personal pace and choose the order in which they learn different skills. Students choose activities from a menu of challenges each day to learn how to say, read, write, and understand words from various categories of words necessary for traveling to a French-speaking place.
French 2-6 This course is a continuation of the game model system started in French 1. More reading and speaking is included in this course as students progress. Learning activities include reading, games, individual activities, group work, videos, music, and visual practice. This course blends individual choice and group learning in a badge style system so that students can reach fluency at their own pace. Once students have reached moderate fluency, they will expand their understanding of the French-speaking world through selecting and working toward goals with the teacher. They will watch full-length films, read literature, and use French for understanding current events.
