In this art course, students will spend half the year learning how to use a SLR digital camera, as well as the basics of Adobe Photoshop. Topics include: learning how to use and operate a camera, rules of photography, digital manipulation, and how to incorporate traditional art media. Students will also study significant photographers in history. All of the camera techniques learned in this course can be applied to the most advanced digital cameras. Cameras are available for student use.

During the second semester, students will explore a craft based art course intended for the students who are interested in the creative process, but not interested in the fine art aspect (drawing/painting). Students will learn about the art and craft of various cultures while creating works of art. Students will get to experience working with a variety of different mediums such as paint, clay, fabric, metal, wood, and yarn while learning multiple studio techniques.

This class was a bit different, including all crafts and no photography. This is some of what to expect in the second semester of this class.

This is a new class to the 2018-2019 year! You could be the first to experience it first hand from Mrs. Migda, a former NMU photography student.
